U.S.-Russia Rule of Law Conference in St. Petersburg, Russia
People to People Ambassador Programs, together with the Faculty of Law at St. Petersburg State University, is coordinating a delegation of professionals specializing in the rule of law to visit Russia from November 2 through November 9, 2007. This unique opportunity will provide participants with the opportunity to meet Russian colleagues face-to-face to discuss common problems, compare recent findings, and evaluate areas for further collaboration.
Included in the major focus areas for the working sessions will be: (1)Human Rights and Freedoms Protection: Law and Practices; (2) Legal Issues of Judicial System Organization and Functioning; (3) International Law Measures Versus International Threats and Challenges; (4) Human Trafficking of Women; (5) Terrorism Law; (6) Ethics for Lawyers and Judges; and others.
The conference will combine educational activities and meetings on the rule of law with cultural activities. Delegates will enjoy an insiderís view of the legal system in Russia and experience the culture in ways that most travelers never do.
