Eleanor Wm. Dahar Appointed to Bar Presidents Executive Council
During the annual meeting of the National Conference of Bar Presidents (NCBP) held this month in San Francisco, Eleanor Wm. Dahar, an attorney from Dahar Law Firm, Manchester, NH, is the first female attorney from New Hampshire appointed to serve on the board of the Executive Council of the NCBP. In June, Dahar was installed as the 2007-2008 President of the New Hampshire Bar Association, the Association’s fourth female president.
The NCBP is a national, non-profit organization with 50 committee members. Members are attorneys from law firms across the country. The organization provides opportunities for professional development and a venue to exchange information and ideas among presidents and other leadership officers. As a member of the board, Dahar will manage committees and serve as a liaison between attorneys to discuss nationwide issues.
Appointment to the NCBP board is highly competitive. Attorneys from across the country submit applications for consideration. According to Patti Blanchette, the first woman to serve as the New Hampshire Bar Association president in 1992-1993, Dahar was chosen to serve on the board for her significant accomplishments as an attorney.
“Eleanor adds a new face to the NCBP. The fact that her achievements are recognized by the national board as an important addition to the organization is an attribute to her and to those who selected her. Eleanor will bring a New Hampshire perspective to the national table that did not exist before. Her seat acts as a conduit for other New Hampshire members to serve on the committee and gives us a New Hampshire voice we did not have before,” said Blanchette.
Eleanor Wm. Dahar practices law in Manchester, NH at Dahar Law Firm with her father and two brothers. In addition to her current position as president for the New Hampshire Bar Association and newly appointed position as board member for the NCBP, she is also a board member of Catholic Medical Center, the New Hampshire Bar Foundation, Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Visiting Nurses Association Foundation. Dahar has been a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association since 1989 and is a graduate of Boston College Law School.
