2008 Midyear Meeting

Nominations Sought for Awards

 

Nominations are now open for the following awards to be presented at the Midyear Meeting:

 

Vickie M. Bunnell Award for Community Service

           

Instituted in 1998 to honor the memory of Vickie M. Bunnell, and to applaud the community spirit that is a hallmark of our profession, this award is presented to an attorney from a small firm (four or fewer attorneys) who has exhibited dedication and devotion to community service.

Deadline for nominations: Dec. 21, 2007.

 

Distinguished Service to the Public Award

           

This award is presented to the nominee who best exhibits service to the public on behalf of the administration of justice.

Deadline for nominations: Dec. 21, 2007.

 

NHBA Paralegal Professionalism Award

           

This annual award is presented to the nominee who best exhibits a high degree of professionalism; possesses an outstanding level of knowledge about his/her job; has motivation that exceeds expectations; is considered a role model for other paralegals; and promotes paralegal work as a profession. Nominations should be in the form of a one-page narrative.

Deadline for nominations: Dec. 21, 2007.

Seeking Hollman Award Nominations

           

The NHBA Gender Equality Committee seeks nominations for the fifth annual Philip S. Hollman Equality Award.  Established on the occasion of Judge Hollman’s retirement from the Superior Court bench in 2003, the award is designed to honor Judge Hollman’s efforts as a stalwart advocate for gender equality in the legal system.

           

The recipient of the award will be someone who has exhibited a dedication to promoting respect and fair treatment toward all members of the judicial system, and seeks to promote gender equality through leadership and educating others on such issues. The recipient will be someone who has taken the initiative in matters of gender equality and by his/her actions and words has been a role model in this area.

           

The nominee may be a Bar member, an employee of a law firm or a New Hampshire court, or an employee of a state department or agency which is part of the legal system. The Committee will review the nominations and select the recipient, who will be presented with the award at the Gender Equality Breakfast at the 2008 Midyear Meeting.

           

Past recipients of the Hollman Award are Honey Hastings (2007), Linda Johnson (2006), Maureen Raiche Manning (2005) and the New Hampshire Public Defender’s Office (2004).  

           

Send your nominations by Dec. 18, 2007 to either of the Gender Equality Committee’s co-chairs, Danielle L. Pacik or Elizabeth Baker.  Please include a brief description of the nominee’s qualifications for the award.

 

Law School Alumni Reunite!

           

AH, REMEMBER THE good old days of law school? Wonder what that old law school classmate is up to now?

           

The New Hampshire Bar Association’s Midyear Membership Meeting presents the perfect opportunity to reunite with fellow alumni of your law school: Law schools are invited to host dinners in conjunction with the meeting, with assistance in setting up the dinners provided by Bar Association staff.

           

Please note: This year, the NHBA 2008 Midyear Membership Meeting will be held on Friday, Feb. 15 at a NEW LOCATION at the Grappone Center in Concord.

           

If you are interested in coordinating a law school dinner for your alumni, please contact Christine Richards at the Bar Center, (603) 715-EASY (3279).  She can assist you by providing contact information for making group dinner arrangements, a sample invitation letter and response form, and mailing labels from the Bar’s member database.

 

Supreme Court Rule 42(9) requires all NH admitted attorneys to notify the Bar Association of any address change, home or office.
