Rule 170 Update
By: Karen Borgstrom, Director
Office of Mediation and Arbitration
Sign-ups for the New Rule 170 program continue to be strong, and we are still accepting applications. From the existing roster of ADR professionals, we have received 119 sign-ups for the volunteer list and 83 for the paid list. Some participants have signed up for both lists. For those individuals who have not yet been a part of the program, please watch the mail for a letter and an application that you may fill out if you want to participate in the new program.
If you have already signed up to be part of the program, but you have not yet signed up for a training session, please contact the Office of Mediation and Arbitration (email@example.com) to sign up for your free eight-hour refresher course. You will receive CLE credit for this training.
Please be sure to review the Rule as adopted by the Supreme Court on a temporary basis and note the important changes to the program. The rostering fee to become a paid Rule 170 Neutral is $350 annually, to support the Office of Mediation and Arbitration. Volunteers do not have to pay the rostering fee, however parties choosing a neutral off the volunteer list will be asked to pay a user fee of $50.00. This fee also goes to support the Office of Mediation and Arbitration programs. (Courts have discretion to waive this fee for indigent parties.)
For further information, see the Office of Mediation and Arbitration pages on the Court's website.
