The law firm of Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green PA and the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation have announced the creation of the William S. Green Memorial Fund. This is a donor advised fund created as a tribute and memorial to the late William S. Green, a long-time president and guiding partner of the firm, who passed away in November of 2007.
An initial contribution of $300,000 by the firm established the fund, which will make annual grants to charitable, religious and educational causes in Manchester and throughout the state. In addition to the professional pursuits during his life, Bill Green dedicated himself to serving his community and state, assuming leadership roles in a broad range of civic, educational, medical and religious institutions. He was actively involved in many causes/organizations, including the United Way, Elliot Hospital, public education in Manchester, inter-denominational communication, Southern New Hampshire University, Dartmouth College, Leadership New Hampshire, the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, and many other such efforts.
In creating the fund, firm President and Managing Director, Joseph DiBrigida said, "This fund will contribute to the community and state, and to causes like those which were dear to Bill Green during his lifetime. He truly was a philanthropic leader and we are pleased to create a living memorial to him that will continue his good work." Contributions from the fund will be suggested by a board of five advisors, headed by DiBrigida. Other members of the initial board include Kimon S. Zachos, senior shareholder, and Bradford E. Cook, a past president of the firm and current shareholder, together with long-time friends of Bill Green, Richard I. Winneg, a local businessman, community leader and current Citizen of the Year in Manchester, and retired CPA James A. Shanahan.
Those wishing to make contributions to the William S. Green Memorial Fund in memory of Mr. Green may do so c/o the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, 37 Pleasant Street, Concord, NH 03301.
