In Memoriam

Donna L. Tzvetanov

Donna Lee (DeKavis) Tzetvanov, 52, died unexpectedly July 29 shortly after giving birth to twins at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Mass.

Raised in Andover, Mass., she received her undergraduate degree at the University of Massachussetts – Amherst. She later attended Western New England Law School and received her law degree, joining both the Massachusetts and New Hampshire Bar Associations.

Tzetvanov practiced law in Hampton for several years before becoming a mother.

In addition to her father, Donna is survived by her husband, Dr. Tzvetan Tzvetanov; her children, Kristiana and Juliana, and newborn babies Alexander and Liliana; brother Dr. Steven DeKavis; in-laws Boris and Ivanka Tzonev of Bulgaria; aunts, uncles and cousins; and countless friends.

Hon. Peter W. Smith

Retired Superior Court Justice Peter W. Smith of Bethlehem died recently at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. He was 69.

"Judge Smith was an accomplished and respected jurist whose personal warmth, humility and kindness were admired and appreciated by all who knew him," New Hampshire Supreme Court Chief Justice John T. Broderick said.

Appointed to the superior court in 1985 by Gov. John Sununu, he served primarily in the Grafton and Coos county superior courts. Though he retired in 2003, he continued to serve as a senior-status judge.

Superior Court Chief Justice Robert Lynn, who knew Justice Smith for 16 years, said, "Peter Smith was a wonderful person and a first rate superior court judge. He was hard working, fair, and dedicated to the superior court and the justice system in our state."

In memory of our colleagues, the New Hampshire Bar Association’s Board of Governors has contributed to the New Hampshire Bar Foundation, 112 Pleasant Street, Concord, NH 03301.
