To the great relief of attorneys concerned about mounting vacancies in the judicial ranks, Gov. John Lynch in August took action on his promise to fill the many vacancies on the stateís trial courts.

Four nominees to the Superior Court and a marital master candidate, named in mid-August, will be vetted by the Executive Council on Sept. 23.

And in mid-September, the Governorís Judicial Selection Commission posted a notice seeking applicants for seven district court positions. The deadline for applicants is October 23, 2009 (See announcement).

The Superior Court nominees are: Marguerite Wageling, current Hillsborough County Attorney; Richard McNamara of Wiggin & Nourie in Manchester, former NHBA President; David Garfunkel of Gallagher Callahan & Gartrell in Concord; Jacalyn Colburn of the NH Public Defender in Concord.

Lynn Aaby, of Portsmouth, has been nominated as marital master.

If you are in doubt about the status of any meeting, please call the Bar Center at 603-224-6942 before you head out.
