Attention All CurrentSuperior Court Rule 170 Neutrals

As you know, Rule 170 (G) (i) d requires that you complete an 8 hour refresher training every other year. We recognize that it is a great inconvenience to have you travel to Concord to participate in a live, 8 hour, refresher training. We also recognize that if you are going to have to sign up for a refresher training, that you would appreciate it if the training was geared for experienced mediators and covered complex topics.

Therefore, we had two goals in mind with regard to addressing the training requirement under the rule. First, we wanted to make it easy to attend. Second, we wanted you to feel that we are providing you with meaningful workshops dealing with advanced concepts and issues in mediation.

To accomplish the first goal, the OMA will be sponsoring trainings which give you a choice about whether you want to participate electronically via webinar, (no travel involved) or whether you would prefer a live program. You can choose to attend either, or a combination of live and webinar workshops, over the next 13 months to get to the 8 hours.

To accomplish the second goal, we chose topics for these presentations that are intended for advanced mediators, not beginners. The topics tackle complex challenging issues that mediators face on a regular basis.

Because this is a requirement of Rule 170, the Office of Mediation and Arbitration is sponsoring these programs. There is no charge to you to attend any of them. We will be applying for CLE credit for each of these programs. We begin this series of workshops in May 2010 and will conclude in May 2011.

Please sign up for these programs using the attached sign up sheet and e-mail it back to Lynda Troy with your selections checked off. Please be sure to fill out the form completely so that we can be sure to get you the materials you will need for each program.
