Board Considers Pending Matters

At its Sept. 16, 2010 meeting, the NHBA Board of Governors discussed a variety of pending matters that are discussed elsewhere in this issue of Bar News, including:
  • Court funding litigation. NHBA Vice President Lawrence Vogelman briefly discussed the work of a small group of lawyers acting on their own, who were assembling a lawsuit against the state of NH to compel adequate funding for the courts. Board members discussed the issue, but the NHBA Board was not asked to participate in the lawsuit. (Read more.)
  • Leadership Academy. NHBA President-elect Jennifer Parent, co-chair of the Leadership Academy Steering Committee, discussed the plans for the inaugural NHBA Leadership Academy, and the gratifying level of interest displayed by members of the Bar. (Read more.)
  • Concerns regarding "full-time judicial" status. The Board briefly discussed issues raised in a letter from Bar member and part-time judge Albert Cirone. (Read more.)
Also discussed was Professional Conduct Rule 1.19 which requires disclosure to the client if an attorney does not maintain at least a minimal amount of professional liability insurance coverage.

The next NHBA Board of Governors meeting is scheduled for Oct. 14.

If you are in doubt about the status of any meeting, please call the Bar Center at 603-224-6942 before you head out.
