In Memoriam: John B. Carroll
John Byrne Carroll, an attorney from Andover, Mass., passed away recently at the age of 51 after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Carroll started his education at Austin Preparatory School then went on to graduate from Merrimack College with a degree in history. In 1984 he graduated cum laude from Suffolk University Law School.
Carroll worked for Karelitz, Chen and White in Haverhill, Mass., and Charles F. McCannon & Associates in Chelmsford, Mass. He later worked at Guilford Transportation Industries in Billerica, Mass., before he opened a private practice in Chelmsford in 1991. Carroll shared his knowledge of business law as a part-time professor and lecturer at Rivier College in Nashua for the paralegal studies Program.
Carroll was a former president of the Merrimack Valley Rotary Club and served on the Board of Directors of the Mental Health Association of Greater Lowell and was also a member of the Haverhill Conservation Commission. In addition, he supported many other organizations such as the Greater Boston Food Bank and Children’s International Foundation.
John Carroll is survived by his wife, Margarita; four children Joseph, Anna, James and Katherine; parents, Francis and Katherine Carroll as well as his three brothers, Francis, Neil and Timothy.
