Panel to Consider GAL Board Reforms

House Speaker William O’Brien has appointed an 11-member legislative committee to study a recent performance audit that identified numerous deficiencies and inconsistencies in oversight of guardians ad litem by the Guardian Ad Litem Board.

He named Rep. Edith Hogan, a Nashua Republican and vice chair of the Children & Family Law Committee, to chair the committee, which is to submit its recommendations to the Speaker by Nov. 1, 2012.

The performance audit, issued in January 2012, and conducted by the Office of Legislative Budget Assistant, is posted on the agency’s webpage at www.gencourt.state.nh.us.

The committee membership includes Rep. J. Brandon Giuda, a Chichester Republican and an attorney. Other members of the committee include: Rep. Paul C. Ingbretson, Rep. Debra L. DeSimone, Rep. George A. Lambert, Rep. Andrew J. Manuse, Rep. Jeffrey D. Oligny, Rep. Mark L. Proulx, Rep. Anne C. Grassie, Rep. Peter B. Schmidt and Rep. Patricia T. Lovejoy.

Supreme Court Rule 42(9) requires all NH admitted attorneys to notify the Bar Association of any address change, home or office.
