Jack Lightfoot
Dr. Roger M. Fossum Award
Jack Lightfoot, recently retired as the director of the NH Children’s Lobby, was awarded the Dr. Roger M. Fossum Award by the Attorney General’s Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect. This award is given in memory of the state’s first chief medical examiner, to honor individuals who have made an outstanding commitment to collaborative, multidisciplinary efforts to improve services for children affected by abuse and neglect in New Hampshire.
 
William A. Mulvey, Jr.
Distinguished Neutrals
William A. Mulvey, Jr. of Mulvey Professional Associates in Portsmouth was recently selected as the first mediator/arbitrator in NH to be accepted to the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals.
 
Daniel Crean
William Thornton IMLA Faculty Award
Daniel Crean of Pembroke was recently honored by the International Municipal Lawyers Association at its Annual Conference in Austin, Tex., as the 2012-13 recipient of the William Thornton IMLA Faculty Award. The honor, named for one of the revered icons of continuing legal education for local government lawyers, is presented to a municipal lawyer who has provided outstanding service to the public and who possesses an exemplary reputation in the legal community, the highest of ethical standards, and who is devoted to mentoring young lawyers and educating lawyers in local government law. In addition to receiving the Thornton Award, Crean also was designated an IMLA Fellow.

Margaret A. O’Brien, of Devine Millimet in Manchester, has been named to the board of directors for the YMCA of Greater Manchester. The YMCA of Greater Manchester focuses on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, with five branches and two overnight camps located throughout New Hampshire.

Judith L. Bomster, of Butenhof & Bomster in Manchester, has been selected for the Leadership Greater Manchester Class of 2013 by the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, a nine-month leadership development program.
 
Ann Butenhof
Special Needs Alliance
Ann Butenhof, of Butonhof & Bomster in Manchester, has been elected to the board of directors for the Special Needs Alliance (SNA). The SNA is a national nonprofit organization of attorneys dedicated to the practice of disability and public benefits law. Butenhof is one of only three Certified Elder Law Attorneys (CELAs) in the state.
 
Leslie Nixon
American Association of Justice
Leslie Nixon, of Nixon, Vogelman, Barry, Slawsky & Simoneau, in Manchester, has received the Distinguished Service Award from American Association of Justice (AAJ) President Gary Paul at the AAJ Board meeting following the Annual Convention in Chicago. AAJ promotes justice and fairness for injured persons, safeguards victims’ rights — particularly the right to trial by jury — and strengthens the civil justice system through education outreach. Nixon has served as president of the NH Association of Justice (NHAJ), a state AAJ affiliate, and serves on its board.

John F. Teague of Upton & Hatfield in Concord has received the Bradley F. Kidder award for Outstanding Contributions in the Field of Education Law. This award recognizes a NH school attorney who has played a significant role in advancing the position of school law in the state of New Hampshire.

Brian Cullen of CullenCollimore in Nashua has joined the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter Board of Directors. Nashua’s largest provider of meals and services to those in need, The shelter provides 1,700 meals per week to individuals and families, and provides education and employment services.

Seacoast Mental Health Center Board
John Pendleton, partner at Dwyer, Donovan & Pendleton of Portsmouth, is serving as president of the Seacoast Mental Health Center Board of Directors. SMHC is a state-designated community mental health center and provides comprehensive psychiatry, counseling, case management and psychological services to residents in the eastern half of Rockingham County.
