CiteCheck Verifies Legal Citations
The New Hampshire Bar Association is partnering with Casemaker to provide CiteCheck to members.
CiteCheck is a Casemaker service that allows users to verify the validity of legal citations in their briefs, pleadings, motions or other legal documents. (The Casemaker online legal library is provided at no charge to all NHBA members through the For Members area of www.nhbar.org.)
For $10 per transaction*, an attorney or paralegal can upload a document into CiteCheck and Casemaker will extract and process all of the legal citations through its authoritative CaseCheck+ service. In a matter of moments (usually about 90 seconds), the attorney receives a report on the status of each legal citation In the document.
If the case is still good law it will receive a green check mark. If the validity of the case is challenged in any way, the case will receive a red "X."
Members can check their own legal documents before filing them with the court. And check the documents submitted by opposing counsel to determine the validity of those cites as well.
CiteCheck is a valuable, affordable tool that will help Association members ensure the quality and accuracy of their legal citations.
* NH Bar Members also have the option of obtaining a subscription to Casemaker + - a premium version of Casemaker, offering a Shepard/KeyCite-like negative citator, daily appellate case alerts, and the CiteCheck brief analyzer.
Visit the Casemaker page at www.nhbar.org and click on the CiteCheck banner.
