Seven law firms and organizations received certification for having one or more representatives attend each of the four Gender Equality Training Initiative sessions held this past fall, organized by the NHBA Gender Equality Committee.
The firms were presented with certificates at the Gender Equality Breakfast, held at the 2013 Midyear Meeting. Pictured are representatives and Committee members at the event. At left, James F. Raymond, Upton Hatfield; Ari Pollack, Gallagher, Callahan & Gartrell; Kristin Mendoza, Devine Millimet; Charla Stevens, McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton; Henry Dane, Dane, Brady & Haydon; and Lauren Simon Irwin, chair of the Gender Equality Committee, and also a member of Upton Hatfield. Not pictured, but also receiving certification were Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green; and the NH Division of Child Support, Legal Unit.
The training initiative aims to educate the legal community about the reasons for, and strategies for combatting, persistent pay inequities between the genders in the legal profession.
The breakfast also featured an address by Evelyn Murphy, the former lieutenant governor of Massachusetts, who spoke about the need for transparency by firms in their compensation policies, and for more assertiveness by female attorneys to achieve pay equity in the legal workplace.
