Vogelman Scholarship Fund Established
As part of the tribute to Larry Vogelman for his service as 2012-2013 President, the NH Bar Association has made a donation to the scholarship fund established by the Leon Goldstein High School for the Sciences in Brooklyn, NY in memory of Larry’s son Jacob.
Members of the scholarship committee say Jacob Vogelman considered education one of the most important aspects of life and that his diligence and tenacity enabled him to succeed at the Goldstein school, as well as in college. Jacob Vogelman and his close friend were tragically killed during Super Storm Sandy in October 2012, by a falling tree as they were walking to check on the friend’s ailing relative.
“Selfless to the end, he died as he lived, performing a service for another,” the scholarship committee wrote. “Those of us who knew him during his years at LMGHS will never forget his boundless energy, exuberance and generosity.”
Jacob Vogelman was dedicated to his work building sets for theater and served as the school archivist while at LMGHS, chronicling the history of the school on videotape.
The scholarship in Jacob Vogelman’s name will be awarded annually to a student at LMGHS who achieves admission to college. The scholarship aims to help students achieve success in their education and become a positive force in society, as a way to memorialize Jacob’s drive and generous spirit.
To make a donation to the scholarship fund, send checks to LMGHS, and mail to the attention of Barbara Mosconi, Leon M. Goldstein High School for the Sciences, 1830 Shore Boulevard, Brooklyn, NY 11235.
