SOLACE Is Here to Help
SOLACE stands for Support of Lawyers/Legal Personnel, All Concern Encouraged. This program is designed to help lawyers, judges, courthouse or law firm employees, or their family members, who have suffered a loss, illness or injury and has an unmet need.
If you are aware of a circumstance that matches that description, you can notify SOLACE, which will distribute an email message to all participating New Hampshire Bar Association members. Requests for clothes and other items due to a fire, a need for blood due to an injury or illness, a need for transportation or lodging during a hospital stay in a city away from home, or any of a myriad other unique or unusual needs. This is not an email list for public service announcements or for circulating remarks and well-wishes. SOLACE will not be used to raise money. It is set up only to serve immediate needs that have arisen as a result of a crisis event in a colleague’s life.
The way the program works is simple, but the effects can be significant. Whenever you or someone you know in the legal community learns of a tragic situation, the person can fill out a form posted at www.nhbar.org. That request will be received by the moderator of the SOLACE project. He or she will review the appropriateness of the request. If a message is to be sent to the SOLACE list, it will be sent from the Bar Association to all members of the list. Responders will either respond directly to the person in need or to an intermediary.
Please contact Denice DeSefano with any questions about this program.
