Federal Court Selects New Magistrate Judge
The US District Court has announced that Andrea Johnstone has been selected by the judges of the court as the next United States magistrate judge for the District of New Hampshire.
Johnstone will replace former Magistrate Judge Landya McCafferty, who was appointed as a United States District Judge on Dec. 18. Johnstone is expected to begin her term in late June.
Johnstone completed her undergraduate studies at Wheaton College and received her law degree from Hofstra University in 1988. She served as a law clerk in the NH Superior Court and then went on to concentrate on labor and employment law with Gallagher, Callahan & Gartrell, and later at Bernstein, Shur.
Johnstone subsequently served as general counsel for the Elliot Health System and currently works as special counsel to the University System of New Hampshire.
“Attorney Johnstone’s selection was the result of a rigorous selection and review process conducted by a Merit Selection Panel composed of accomplished members of the public and private federal bar,” US District Court Chief Judge Joseph Laplante said. “... The other judges and I look forward to welcoming attorney Johnstone as a colleague.”
