In Memoriam: John L. Sweeney Jr.
John L. Sweeney Jr. of Derry passed away May 16 at the age of 70.
John L. Sweeney Jr.
He graduated from St Johnís Preparatory School then went on to Providence College, graduating in 1965. He continued on to Suffolk University School of Law, graduating in 1968. He was a second-generation attorney, practicing law at the familyís firm of Sweeney and Sweeney in Nashua. His son, John L. Sweeney III, now operates the firm.
Sweeney was a member of the Miramichi Anglers Association in Doaktown, New Brunswick, Canada, as well as the Miramichi Salmon Association and the Atlantic Salmon Federation. He also held memberships at the American Legion Lester Chase Post #9, the American Association of Woodturners, the Guild of NH Woodworkers and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; his son, John L. Sweeney III; and daughter, Shannon Sweeney Anthony; as well as four grandchildren and a brother.
