In Memoriam: John D. Cameron
John D. Cameron of Gilford passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, after a brief but hard-fought battle with cancer.
Cameronís first career started with an undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of New Hampshire and a graduate degree in business administration from Northeastern University. Cameron and his family settled in Merrimack, where he worked for Digital Equipment Corporation in the marketing department.
After many successful years in business, Cameron earned his JD from UNH School of Law. He was an advocate for children and families and was a key member of the Task Force on Family Law, lobbying for the resulting Parental Rights and Responsibilities Act. He co-founded the Collaborative Law Alliance of NH, the Parenting Coordinator Association of NH, the NH Guardian Ad Litem Association and Neutral Ground Co-Parenting Solutions. Cameron also served on the Governorís Committee on Family Law and the Family Mediation Certification Board, and was a member of the NHBA Family Law Section.
Over the years, Cameron volunteered for a variety of organizations, including the YMCAs in Nashua and Concord and the United Way of Greater Nashua. He held leadership positions on the steering committee of the State of NH, Governorís Office on Volunteerism.
He is survived by his wife, Pat, and his children, Emily and Jonathan.
