Magistrate Judge Andrea Johnstone was sworn in at the federal courthouse for the District of New Hampshire in Concord on Oct. 2.
Judge Joseph DiClerico administers the oath of office to Magistrate Andrea Johnstone.
At the ceremony, attorneys Terry Shumaker and Debra Weiss Ford, and Suzanne Stiles gave remarks about Johnstone. Federal court Chief Judge Joseph Laplante also offered some welcoming remarks.
Johnstone completed her undergraduate studies at Wheaton College and received her law degree from Hofstra University in 1988. She served as a law clerk in the NH Superior Court and then went on to concentrate on labor and employment law with Gallagher, Callahan & Gartrell, and later at Bernstein Shur.
Johnstone subsequently served as general counsel for the Elliot Health System and special counsel to the University System of New Hampshire. She replaces former Magistrate Judge Landya McCafferty, who was appointed as a United States District Court judge late last year.
