Morning Mail: Casemaker a Great Choice
Editorís note: The Bar Associationís contract with Casemaker, the online legal research library that is free to all members, was renewed in June 2014 for three years, with new features, including a citation checker, annotations for statutes, and the extension of case law coverage back to NH Reports 1.
I thought it appropriate to comment on Casemaker. I have always been pleased with Casemakerís tools, but the new enhanced features since contract renewal have made Casemaker even more effective.
The CiteCheck feature in particular is helpful, but more so the expanded database. I can confirm that the New Hampshire case law in Casemaker goes back to 1 NH 9, which as far as I can tell is the first case reported. Casemaker is prompt with updating the case law database with new decisions, which can be an advantage in an argument that turns on a complicated set of facts.
Its technical support is also helpful, which I have experienced firsthand with some technical issues that ended up being on my end.
The New Hampshire Bar made a great choice in renewing its contract with Casemaker. It benefits my practice, and I have no doubt it levels the playing field with regard to access to an effective research tool for members of the New Hampshire Bar Association.
