In Memoriam: Hon. Donald W. Cushing
Hon. Donald W. Cushing Sr. of Scarborough, Maine, died March 23, 2015. He was 90.

Cushing honorably served in World War II and as a lieutenant in the US Navy Reserve before receiving his JD from Boston College Law School. He opened his law office in his hometown of Franklin, where he practiced for more than 40 years. He served as mayor of Franklin for two terms and had the privilege of escorting then-Senator John F. Kennedy around his town during the presidential campaign.
Cushing was appointed a judge of the Merrimack County Probate Court, where he served for 26 years.
He was heavily involved in his community with the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, Franklin Board of Education and the Franklin Parks and Recreation Committee. Cushing served as city solicitor of Franklin for six years and as chair of the Franklin Democratic Committee for seven years.
Cushing is survived by his wife, Claire, and children Donald Jr., Anne, Mary, Carolyn and Paul.
