In Memoriam: James F. Monahan
James F. Monahan of Quechee, Vt. died July 30, 2015. He was 73.
Monahan was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and attended Power Memorial Academy in Manhattan and Brooklyn College. He graduated from Harvard Law School in 1966 where he distinguished himself academically and served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review.
After graduating from Harvard, Monahan completed a fellowship working on land issues in Lima, Peru, and then worked with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, DC.
A successful real estate attorney, Monahan started his legal career as an associate with Fried Frank in New York City and continued as a partner and chair of the real estate groups with law firms of Foley, Hoag, & Eliot and Bingham, Dana & Gould in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1995, Monahan left law practice to become a co-developer of Quechee Lakes, where he lived for 16 years.
Monahan is survived by his wife, a son, and brother and his spouse.
Donations in Monahanís name are being accepted at the Inner-City Scholarship Fund and Por Cristo, a nonprofit medical services organization in Ecuador.
