NEW! NHBA Communications Advisory Council
In September, the NHBA Board of Governors approved a proposal to establish a new NH Bar Communications Advisory Council. The council will replace the separate Bar News Editorial Board and Bar Journal Editorial Advisory Board.
The council will be charged with providing advice and guidance to the NHBA Communications Department on all NH Bar member publications and communications policies, as well as electronic media strategy, the bar association website redevelopment project and other issues as needed. Members of the council will also be responsible for contributing and/or helping to solicit content that engages and informs the NH Bar Association membership.
In addition to the core council membership, which will include the Bar News editor, who will serve as the staff liaison to the council, and the NHBA communications director, the council will invite temporary advisors to participate in discussions on specific topics.
The planned council composition includes lawyers from various age groups and geographic locations who work at small and large firms, as well as a judge, a public interest attorney and corporate general counsel. The council is expected to begin meeting monthly, once all members have been appointed.
The work of the New Hampshire Bar Association Communications Department includes publication of Bar News, the associationís monthly flagship publication, the weekly NHBA e-Bulletin newsletter, and Bar Journal, as well as management of social media channels, the barís website, and other special projects and online association content.
ďAs the amount of information bombarding bar members continues to grow, we need to work harder to make sure our content is engaging and our important messages get through,Ē said Dan Wise, the barís director of communications. ďThis new council will serve a key role in helping the bar make sure its publications and web presence meet the changing needs of the various segments of the bar associationís membership.Ē
