October is Pro Bono Month in NH

New Hampshire celebrates Pro Bono Month each October, and there are some special events that provide opportunities for lawyers to help low-income clients while helping to highlight the work of volunteer attorneys in the state.
A group of volunteers will assemble at the Bar Center on Oct. 21 for a referral marathon. Lawyers will reach out to colleagues to ask them to consider taking a Pro Bono bankruptcy case, which generally takes about eight hours to complete.
National Pro Bono Week takes place Oct. 26-20. The week kicks off with the ABA Day of Service on Monday, Oct. 26. On Oct. 26, there will be a periodic payment clinic in Candia District Court, as well as the second session of Pro Bono Divorce Camp at the Bar Center that evening.
On Oct. 27, UNH Law students will participate in a Pro Bono referral marathon at the law school, after which the law school will host a reception in honor of 2015 Bruce E. Friedman Pro Bono Award recipient Jack Crisp.
