In Memoriam: Astrid Stevens Daly
Astrid Stevens Daly
Astrid Stevens Daly died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at her home in Dunbarton. She was 51.
A native of Easton, Pa., Daly grew up in Wolfville, NS, Canada. She earned a bachelor of arts at Acadia University, then moved to Kingston, Ontario, to pursue a law degree at Queen’s University. During that time she also worked as a border patrol officer in Ontario, and as a parole officer in Nova Scotia. She earned a bachelor of laws at Queen’s in 1990, then moved to New England, where she was admitted to the bar in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Daly worked with local firms throughout the 1990s, before establishing the Daly Law Offices in 1998. She overcame bone cancer in her early teens, and breast cancer in her late twenties. Diagnosed with metastatic cancer in 2005, she continued to live a joyful and active life, raising two daughters on her own.
Daly was a member of the Dunbarton First Congregational Church and deeply enjoyed that fellowship. She loved nature in all its seasons, and enjoyed many peaceful hours watching the wildlife and birds around her home.
Daly is survived by her daughters, her beloved life partner Ed Belanger, her father, brother, sisters and nieces.
In memory of our colleague, the NHBA Board of Governors has contributed to the NH Bar Foundation.
