Bar Governance: Scott Harris Nominated President-elect; Board Meets with AG Foster and Judge Howard
At the Nov. 16, 2015, meeting the NH Bar Association Board of Governors nominated Scott Harris, a director at McLane Middleton in Manchester, to serve as president-elect for fiscal year 2016-17.
Harris represents companies and executives in litigation on a variety of matters and has tried cases in state and federal courts in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and elsewhere for more than 15 years. The current president-elect, David Ruoff, will become president of the association at the NHBA Annual Meeting in Portsmouth in June.
In other action, the board approved the appointment of Phil Utter and the reappointments of John Norton and Charles Greenhalgh to the NHBA Pro Bono Governing Board.
The board also welcomed NH Attorney General Joseph Foster as a guest speaker at its meeting in November. Foster provided an overview of the many functions of the NH Department of Justice – the people’s law firm – and spoke in depth about the problem of prescription and illicit opiate abuse and addiction in New Hampshire.
