Member Services Spotlight: Traps for the Unwary
The NH Bar Association New Lawyers Committee is regularly updating Traps for the Unwary, which provides advice on dozens of topics that come up in everyday practice, including tips in areas where New Hampshire law or procedures may differ from those in other states.
The 80-page sixth edition, extensively revised in fall 2015 and updated last month, incorporates the latest revision of the NH Rules of Civil Procedure, small claims filing with the e-Court, and recent changes in probate and estate law. Ashley Scott, a member of the committee who worked on several sections of the book, said typical entries point out potentially overlooked procedural steps that could be consequential.
Areas of law covered include: alcohol, service of; attachments; auto accidents and insurance; business corporations; ethics; family law; landlord/tenant; litigation; mechanicís liens; probate; real estate; small claims; wills; taxes; workers compensation; and much more.
