The following memo from NH Supreme Court Chief Justice Linda Stewart Dalianis regarding the annual attorney license renewal process (including payment of Court fees, NH Bar Association dues, Trust Accounting Compliance certification, and NHMCLE reporting) was circulated to members of the NH Bar Association at the Midyear Meeting on March 4, 2016. Look for the 3-1-1 license plate logo at www.nhbar.org for more information on the process to be implemented this year. A demonstration and Q&A on the process will be held April 7 at the Bar Center.

The New Hampshire Supreme Court, in collaboration with the NH Bar Association and the NH Attorney Discipline Office, is pleased to announce a new online system to assist NH Bar members with their annual license renewal requirements. The new online system offers members a single portal, or Member Dashboard, accessed through the NH Bar Association website, that attorneys can use to complete annual trust account compliance (Supreme Court Rule 50) and New Hampshire Minimum Continuing Legal Education compliance obligations (Supreme Court Rule 53), and pay Bar dues and New Hampshire Supreme Court fees. These changes will be implemented in June 2016.

An essential component to ensuring the effectiveness of the Member Dashboard will be the consolidation of the various deadlines currently contained in Supreme Court Rules 50 and 53. Bar members should be aware that all compliance filings, NHBA dues, and NH Supreme Court fee payments will be consolidated to run on an annual calendar with compliance certifications and payments due by July 1 of each year.

Bar members will receive the annual membership license renewal notice via email the first week of June and will be able to complete their renewal obligations and verify compliance online. The Member Dashboard will also provide reminders and alerts. We believe this will make the process easier and more efficient for everyone involved. The all-electronic process is expected to improve compliance and reduce the time and costs of paper processing.

This spring, the Bar Association will launch the compliance portion of the Member Dashboard. On April 7, 2016, the Bar Association will hold a free workshop at the Bar Center to demonstrate the updated renewal processes for lawyers and office staff. Members also will have access to an online tutorial prepared by the NH Bar Association.

In the coming months, Supreme Court Rules 50 and 53 will be revised to include this new online filing system and the new deadlines. The rules will posted on the Court website and in Bar News. All NH Bar Association members are expected to familiarize themselves with the Court Rules, as the new deadlines will be strictly enforced by the Court. Members are encouraged to take advantage of various training opportunities and online tutorials offered by the NH Bar Association.
