George Bruno of LawServe in Manchester was the commencement speaker at the 2016 Hartwick College graduation ceremony held May 21 at his alma mater in Oneonta, NY. Bruno, the former US Ambassador to Belize, received an honorary doctor of humane letters degree from Hartwick College in 1996 and the college’s President’s Award for the Liberal Arts in Practice in 2011.

Dianne Ricardo of McLane Middleton received the firm’s 11th annual Jack B. Middleton Pro Bono Legal Services Award for her commitment to serving citizens in need. Ricardo, a litigation associate, worked more than 100 pro bono hours in 2015.

Sabrina Beavens, a Partner at Iurillo Law Group in Portsmouth, was recently appointed to be the circuit writer for the First Circuit Federal Bankruptcy Bar. The Federal Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Law Section sponsors a project in which each Circuit appoints a writer or writers with the honor of summarizing the important decisions emanating from each Circuit Court of Appeals.

Hon. James H. Leary received the 2016 Ted Jordan Award from the Nashua Bar Association at a dinner May 25 at the Nashua Country Club. Named in honor of longtime Nashua Bar Association member Ted Jordan, the award honors Jordan’s adventurous spirit and lifelong concern for helping to improve the welfare and happiness of all that he touched.

Robert Dunn, an attorney at Devine Millimet in Concord, received the Advocate of the Year award from the NH Nurse Practitioner Association. He was also named the top government relations attorney in New Hampshire by Business NH Magazine.

Patrick Closson, director at McLane Middleton, and Steven Shawver, executive vice president and chief legal officer at Sig Sauer Inc., were elected to the Business and Industry Association Board of Directors in May. They will join the association’s 34-member board, which includes Scott Ellison of Cook Little Rosenblatt and Manson in Manchester, who serves as secretary.

Led by marketing agency Thinkso Creative, Bernstein Shur launched its “Be Shur” law firm marketing campaign last year. The campaign recently took home a Merit Award at the Rebrand 100 Global Awards, as well as two Your Honor Awards from the Legal Marketing Association’s New England Chapter, which recognized the campaign’s “refreshed view on the industry.”

Supreme Court Rule 42(9) requires all NH admitted attorneys to notify the Bar Association of any address change, home or office.
