A celebration of a milestone anniversary for the Robert E. Kirby Award is among the highlights of this year’s NH Bar Foundation Annual Dinner. The event takes place on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at the Radisson Hotel/Center of NH in Manchester.
The Kirby award is presented to an attorney 35 years old or younger who exemplifies excellence in advocacy and outstanding civility. The award honors the memory of Bob Kirby, a lawyer at the Gallagher, Callahan & Gartrell firm in Concord who died of a sudden illness in 1996. He was 35.
“The purpose of the award is to honor Bob’s memory and to remind all of us that decency, courtesy, and perspective neither inhibits nor defeats excellent advocacy,” said Mike Callahan at the time the award was created.
The list of past Kirby recipients includes a US Senator, the chief judge of the US District Court in New Hampshire, two state judges, a state senator, the governor’s legal counsel, a former US Attorney, and four past presidents of the NH Bar Association.
To purchase tickets or become a sponsor of the Bar Foundation Annual Dinner, please visit the New Hampshire Bar Foundation website, at www.nhbarfoundation.org. Tickets are $95. The annual dinner is the Foundation’s only fundraising event during the year. Thanks to the generous support of sponsors, tickets for new lawyers (in practice up to four years) are available at a discounted price.
The Bar Foundation administers the IOLTA program and is the philanthropic arm of the NH Bar Association. Its fundraising supports the Justice Grants program and other activities to advance access to justice for all citizens of the Granite State and to improve understanding of the legal system in the state.
