Dempsey Named GC of Judicial Branch
Mary Ann Dempsey
Mary Ann Dempsey of Merrimack has been named the new general counsel for the state’s judicial branch.
“Mary Ann brings tremendous legal talents as well as a deep understanding of state government to her new role as general counsel,” said Chief Justice Linda S. Dalianis, who announced the appointment Wednesday. “I will be counting on her leadership and insight when it comes to dealing with everything from employment issues, vendor contracts and NH e-Court, to increasing the transparency of the judicial branch and answering right-to-know questions.”
From 2012 to 2015, Dempsey served as the civil bureau chief in the state Attorney General’s Office, responsible for a team of attorneys who represented the 115 state agencies and boards on all legal matters, led in complex civil litigation and acted as a liaison to the governor’s office and the Legislature.
Dempsey served as president of the Manchester Bar Association from 2010 to 2011 and previously worked at the Wiggin & Nourie law firm in Manchester for 12 years.
