NHBA Announces Annual Meeting Award Recipients

Charles Douglas

George Moore, a leader in the legal community in New Hampshire and beyond for more than 35 years, has been selected to receive the 2017 E. Donald Dufresne Award for Outstanding Professionalism, one of three awards to be presented at the 2017 NH Bar Association Annual Meeting, June 23-24 at the Mountain View Grand Hotel in Whitefield, NH. Moore, a shareholder at Devine Millimet in Manchester, was NHBA president from 1999 to 2000. He also served on the board of the New England Bar Association and as its president from 2006 to 2007.

Charles Douglas is a founder of the Douglas Leonard & Garvey law firm in Concord and a former justice of the NH Supreme Court and NH Superior Court. He currently chairs the governor’s Judicial Selection Commission. Douglas will receive the 2017 NH Bar Association Award for Distinguished Service to the Profession.


Justice Conboy

NH Supreme Court Justice Carol Ann Conboy, a former Superior Court judge and United States Air Force officer, who will retire at the end of June, will receive the 2017 NHBA Justice William A. Grimes Award for Judicial Professionalism. Conboy was a partner at McLane Middleton and practiced as a trial lawyer with a concentration on employment law before being appointed as a judge in 1992. She is well known and regarded for her careful and thoughtful approach, both on and off the bench. This award recognizes a judge who demonstrates “exemplary morals, great patience, calmness, coolness and attention.”
