In Memoriam: Robert P. Leslie, Salem, NH
Robert P. Leslie of Salem, New Hampshire, died March 13, 2017, after a brief illness. He was 84.
Raised in South Lawrence, Massachusetts, Leslie graduated from Lawrence High School in 1949 and from Merrimack College in 1953. After serving five years as a US Marine Corps Aviator, he graduated from Boston College Law School. He was a founding partner of the Soule and Leslie law firm in Salem, New Hampshire.
Leslie was active from his youth and throughout his life in Democratic politics. He was instrumental in establishing the Salem Democratic Committee in the 1950s and served as a campaign advisor for Senator Thomas Mcintyre through his three terms in the US Senate. Leslie was appointed by Gov. John King to serve as director on the Board of the NH Industrial School. He was an avid golfer and in retirement provided pro bono legal services.
He is survived by his wife Carol Leslie of Salem; his daughter, Susan Leslie-Pritchard of Cambridge, Massachusetts; his sons, Christopher Leslie of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Stephen Leslie of Hartland, Vermont; and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Patricia Ann Leslie.
In memory of our colleague, the New Hampshire Bar Association Board of Governors has made a contribution to the NH Bar Foundation.
