Memorial Fund Established: Elyse Alkalay Battle of the Books Fund
The Bar Association community, and the NHBA Leadership Academy Class of 2012 in particular, were stunned by the passing of Elyse Alkalay, a member of that group, on June 10, 2013.
Elyse’s family reports that if individuals are interested in making a donation in her memory, they are encouraged to provide support to the Elyse Alkalay Battle of the Books Fund, established by the Bicentennial Elementary School PTO. Alkalay coached a Battle of the Books team for the past three years. The PTO said:
“Battle of the Books was a program near to Elyse’s heart. In Battle of the Books, teams meet weekly for practice, and then, in the spring, go head-to-head in a scholarly competition about their reading. Elyse’s team was a three-time winner over the last three years (the most-winning coach ever). She loved to teach and share her love of reading and competition. Her teams were always well prepared and enthusiastic. This fund will serve as an ongoing resource for the Battle of the Books program to assist in replacing books used by the club.”
Checks should be made payable to the Bicentennial PTO, with “Elyse’s Fund” written in the memo, and sent to Bicentennial PTO, 296 East Dunstable Road, Nashua, NH 03062.
