In Memoriam: Paul Francis Cavanaugh, Medfield, MA
Paul Francis Cavanaugh, 84, of Medfield, Massachusetts, passed away Monday, July 24, 2017.
Cavanaugh was a longtime resident of Needham, Massachusetts, and worked as the City Solicitor of Concord, New Hampshire, for 38 years. He was also a veteran of the United States Army.
Cavanaugh is survived by his loving wife, Mary; six daughters, Catherine Cavanaugh, Mary Elizabeth Cavanaugh, Anne Sawan, Eileen McCarthy, Janet Hajj, and Jeanne McLaine; six sons, Paul Cavanaugh, John Cavanaugh, Brian Cavanaugh, Owen Cavanaugh, James Cavanaugh, Michael Cavanaugh; and 31 grandchildren. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to all.
Cavanaugh loved fly fishing and spent more than 40 years traveling to the Canadian border to stay a few weeks in Pittsburg, New Hampshire, where he challenged himself to catch the next biggest fish. His family would often travel with him and there he shared his love of fishing, s’mores, exploring and moose watching. At home he was an expert at “squirrel relocation” and waged an unsuccessful war against those unwelcome visitors. He’d spend weekends with family visiting antique car shows, eating ice cream, attending a performance or graduation, or hanging on the porch swapping stories and laughing.
In memory of our colleague, the New Hampshire Bar Association Board of Governors has made a contribution to the NH Bar Foundation.
