Parenting Rights & Responsibilities. Single mother in Laconia area would like help with a parenting case involving a 6-year-old child. Parties have been scheduled for mediation. Please contact Janice.

Grafton County Evictions: Single mother of three facing eviction; defenses appear strong. Has tried without success to find new housing; would prefer to stay or have more time to find a new place.

Single man is now homeless and has lost personal property due to lock-out. Would like advice on his options and assistance to negotiate some relief. If you can help these clients, please contact Carolann.

Nominations for Midyear Meeting Awards

Can you think of a colleague who deserves recognition for his or her hard work, dedication and professionalism? Please submit a nomination for one or more of the following awards by Friday, Dec. 8, to Allison Borowy:

  • Vickie M. Bunnell Award for Community Service
  • Distinguished Service to the Public Award
  • Outstanding Service in Public Sector/Public Interest Law (nomination form)

NOTE: The deadline to nominate someone for the 2018 Philip Hollman Equality Award is next Wednesday, Nov. 15.

These awards will be presented at the NHBA Midyear Meeting, Feb. 16, 2018, in Manchester.

Law School Alumni Reunite!

Ever wonder what your law school classmates are up to now? Well, the NHBA Midyear Membership Meeting presents the perfect opportunity for a reunion. Several law school alumni dinners will happen in conjunction with the meeting, which is scheduled for Feb. 16 in Manchester, and you are invited to help coordinate a dinner for your classmates.

Bar staff will assist by providing a sample invitation letter and response form, and a set of alumni mailing labels from the Bar’s member database. The Bar will also publish details of law school dinners in Bar News and on the website.

Volunteers Needed for Attorney Discipline System

The New Hampshire Supreme Court is seeking volunteers to serve on two committees that are part of the New Hampshire Attorney Discipline System. Beginning in January 2018, there will be openings for two non-attorneys to serve on the Professional Conduct Committee for a three-year term. There will also be openings for four non-attorneys and seven attorneys to serve three-year terms on the Hearings Committee. A description of the Attorney Discipline System and of the role of each committee, as well as the Application, can be found on the Attorney Discipline System website. Appointments to the committees are made by the Supreme Court.

Individuals interested in being considered for appointment to a committee should complete an Attorney Discipline System Committee Application and submit it by Dec. 8, 2017.

Rules Committee Public Hearing – 12/8

The NH Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Rules will hold a public hearing at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at the Supreme Court, to receive the views of any member of the public, the bench, or the bar on court rules changes which the Committee is considering for possible recommendation to the Supreme Court.

Comments may be emailed writing to the secretary of the Committee at any time on or before Dec. 7 by email or may be submitted at the hearing on Dec. 8. Comments may be emailed to the Committee on or before Dec. 7.

Peale Retirement Reception - 11/14

A reception to celebrate the retirement of James I. Peale, the clerk for Cheshire and Sullivan County Superior Courts, is planned for Tuesday, Nov. 14, in Keene.

The Cheshire County Bar Association is hosting the event. Court staff, community members, friends, family, and attorneys are invited. Light refreshments will be served. Cash bar.
