With the exceptions of the profit sharing, 401(k) and Dental Insurance, benefits begin on the first day of the month following date of hire.

Insurance Benefits – NHBA offers its full-time employees a complete benefit package, including Group Health Insurance (currently offered through Anthem with a partial offset to the employee deductible via an HRA through Group Dynamics), Dental Insurance (after 6 months waiting period) through Northeast Delta Dental, Short-term and Long-term Disability Insurance through Mutual of Omaha, and Life Insurance (also through Mutual of Omaha) equal to one times annual salary. Additional Life and AD&D, Vision, Cancer and Accident insurance is available through a voluntary life insurance programs.

The employee contribution to the Group Health Insurance cost (currently 20% of composite rate) is through a payroll deduction, which may be sheltered as a pre-tax deduction through our Section 125 plan.

Retirement Benefits (employer-paid) – Following the first anniversary date, NHBA contributes 7% of salary for all eligible employees to a profit-sharing plan held with Paychex Retirement Services.  The plan vests, in the employee’s name after six years.

In addition, after six months of employment, eligibility to participate in the NHBA 401(k) plan begins on the first of the month following the six-month anniversary date.  The 401k plan can be elected at any time after the employee’s six-month anniversary.

Vacation, Sick and Holiday – Exempt employees earn 18 days Vacation and 12 days Sick time (1.5 and 1.0 days/month, respectively).  After 3 continuous years of service, Exempt employees earn Vacation at the rate of 21 days/year (1.75 days/month). After 9 continuous years of service, Exempt employees earn Vacation at the rate of 24 days/year (2.0 days/month).  At the start of the employee’s 15th year of continuous employment, and every five years thereafter (20th, 25th, 30th, etc.) each employee shall be credited a one-time “bonus” of five (5) vacation days, or the applicable proration thereof, which will become a part of the employee’s accumulated vacation total.

There are typically twelve scheduled holidays per year.

New Hires: During the first month of employment employees hired after the 15th of the month will not begin accruing time off until the 1st of the following month.

Sick and Vacation days may be accumulated to a maximum of 30 days.  Terminating employees will be compensated only for earned unused Vacation days.

Employees whose regular work schedule is less than 37.5 hours per week, are eligible for vacation and sick pay benefits on a prorated basis; and are also eligible for holiday pay for any holiday that falls on day they would normally be scheduled to work.

Other Leave – in addition to the above, up to three days per year may be granted for personal emergencies such as a death in the immediate family.  Leave for employees whose work schedule is less than 37.5 hours a week receive prorated pay for leave days that they are normally scheduled to work.

Employee Assistance Program – is designed to help you meet the challenges we all face in our efforts to balance the demands of our personal, work and family lives.  The EAP was established to help employees and members of their household deal with life issues that can interfere with job performance and personal wellbeing.  Confidential help is available over the phone, and in face-to-face sessions with professional consultants.  These services can be accessed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Verizon Wireless discount – because the Bar Association has a corporate account with Verizon Wireless, they also offer employees up to a 15% discount on their equipment purchases and monthly service.  To be eligible, the account must be set up in the name of the Employee, and proof of employment must be provided.

Additional benefits provided by 2 Pillsbury Condominium Association and NH Bar Association:

Parking – is available free of charge to employees of businesses located at 2 Pillsbury Street on a space-available basis.  Employees may be asked to park in areas of the lots that are designated by the owner/condo association as staff parking.

Exercise Room – in the lower level of 2 Pillsbury Street is available free to employees of all owners/tenants in the building who have completed the mandatory orientation program and signed the required release.  This is for staff only – no family members or friends allowed.

 

NOTE:  The New Hampshire Bar Association defines part-time employment as a regular work schedule of less than 30 hours per week.
